There is a late addition to the 2013 best-available recruits list.
ESPN 100 center Dominic Woodson (Huntington, W.Va./Huntington Prep) is back on the open market after being granted a release from his Letter of Intent by Baylor. After signing with Scott Drew’s Bears in the fall, Marshall and Memphis are expected to play a big role in his next move.
“It was mutual,” said Prep coach Rob Fulford. “He asked for his release and he received it. Baylor didn’t anticipate having two pros come back and they were interested in Dominic redshirting, and he wasn’t interested in that.”
Baylor big men Isaiah Austin and Cory Jefferson both elected to return instead of entering the draft, creating a potential logjam in the frontcourt for the Bears. Woodson’s preference is to play right away and not sit out and take a redshirt year, leading to his return to the market.
Woodson’s preference, according to Fulford, is to not actually re-open his recruitment but instead, keep his list short with Marshall and Memphis in the mix.
“I’ve had a bunch of people call,” Fulford said. “Florida’s called, Purdue called and Alabama called. Honestly, I don’t think he wants to open it up to a full blown recruitment.”
