Weekend visitors from around the country

Every Thursday, we post which prospects will be on campus that weekend for college visits. Ever wonder what a coach does when his top target is on someone else's campus? That's got to be excruciating. It's like dating a beautiful girl and she likes you -- but she's going to have dinner with George Clooney. I don't know how these guys keep it together.

A run on commitments earlier in the week shrunk our official visit list, but a tour of the nation yields a dozen ESPN 100 prospects on campuses this Saturday.

Just which school has the best weekend lined up is debatable. However, Michigan is at Notre Dame in football, and that means it’s a tough ticket in South Bend. Mike Brey invited his two committed prospects to pal around with his most pivotal prospect: PG Demetrius Jackson (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian Catholic). We have reason to believe Jackson wants to end his process soon, and the Irish should be the final school to host him. No need for a plane ticket, either -- Jackson lives only a few miles from campus.

Editor's note: There’s no guarantee all these guys make it to campus. Also, this is merely a snapshot of the country, not the full representation of each program.

Air Force

Visitor: SF Jordan Scott

Scott’s brother was in the ESPN 100 last year and his father works in admissions at Air Force. So we’re saying Jordan has a chance to get admitted!

Arizona State

Visitor: SF Tre’Shaun Lexing

Herb Sendek has a new staff and they’ve got a summer favorite in Lexing on campus.

Creighton

Visitor: PG John Dawson

Could be the No. 2 player in New Mexico, and we liked him a lot during the AAU season.

Dayton

Visitor: PG Dayshon Smith

Programs are finding good point guards difficult to come by, and Archie Miller wouldn’t mind locking Smith down.

Drake

Visitors: PG Graham Woodward, SF Omar Prewitt, PF Joe Boyd

In Vegas, Woodward proved to be one of the summer finds at the point, and Drake is finding Gonzaga and Butler sniffing around his recruitment.

Florida

Visitor: ESPN 60 C Dakari Johnson

This was supposed to be Schulyer Rimmer’s visit weekend before he decommitted this week. Johnson is a tentative visit but worth noting given his profile.

Georgetown

Visitor: ESPN 100 PF Reggie Cameron

Look, if you’re a program that values forwards who can shoot, this kid is the definition of no-brainer.

Georgia

Visitors: ESPN 100 PF Jarquez Smith, PG J.J. Frazier, PG Jalyn Patterson, C Tosin Menhenti, ESPN 25 PF Daniel Giddens, SF Jaylen Brown, Donte Scott, Justin Ravenel, Damion Ottman

Mark Fox has spent considerable time watching Smith and Giddens. Fitting they're finally in the same place so Fox doesn't have to go gym to gym to see them like he did in July.

Hawaii

Visitor: PF Michael Thomas

Meet the smartest recruit in America, Mike Thomas. A three-day weekend in Hawaii? You kidding me?

Illinois

Visitor: ESPN 100 SG Xavier Rathan-Mayes

The Florida State Seminoles are the favorites here. Can Illinois capitalize on the momentum of the Kendrick Nunn commitment?

Iowa

Visitors: SF Peter Jok, PG Prentiss Nixon, Roosevelt Smart, Evan Boudreaux

The Hawkeyes have been aggressive with underclassmen, and Smart and Nixon haven’t been afraid to drive to Big Ten campuses this fall. Jok was at Drake last weekend.

Marquette

Visitor: SF Darin Johnson

People fell hard for him in the summer and he has that feel of a blue-collar Buzz Williams special.

Michigan State

Visitors: ESPN 25 PG Hyron Edwards, ESPN 60 PF Cliff Alexander

The Alexander trip is tentative, but Edwards is one of the top young point guards in the region. Kentucky and Michigan State should play rock, paper, scissors in a best-of-three for Alexander.

Minnesota

Visitors: SG Alvin Ellis, PF Alex Foster

Nothing to see here. Just a couple of Chicago guys making their way to Minnesota for the weekend. The Gophers have been on an underclassman tear; this time they invited seniors.

Mississippi State

Visitor: C Dwight Coleby

Love when a program pulls out all the stops and brings in only one recruit for the entire weekend. Rick Ray rolls out the red carpet.

NC State

Visitor: ESPN 100 PF Kyle Washington

Bigs who can actually score are not bountiful in this class. Washington can catch, turn and score, as well as rebound out of his area.

Notre Dame

Visitors: ESPN 100 PG Demetrius Jackson, ESPN 100 SF V.J. Beachem, SG Steve Vasturia, SG Jalen Coleman, SG Mack Mercer

Think the Irish planned this one out? Top target Jackson visits and he’ll be flanked by both Notre Dame commitments so far (Beachem and Vasturia). Enjoy the Michigan game, boys.

Ohio State

Visitors: VJ King, SG Josh Jackson

These are two of the best freshmen in America. A year from now, the names will roll off your tongue.

Old Dominion

Visitors: C Neville Fincher, SG Shannon Evans

Neither is an official visit, but both are Hargrave guys you can read about from the Fall Prep Tour.

Oregon

Visitor: ESPN 100 PF Aaron Gordon

Former Oakland Soldiers teammate Dominic Artis is the Ducks' point man on this visit. Can he drop a dime with Junior Blake Griffin?

Rhode Island

Visitors: PF Hassan Martin, SF Jon Severe

Two guys who are getting Big East attention are on the A-10 campus. The Hurleys love their NYC-area prospects.

Rutgers

Visitor: ESPN 100 PG Roddy Peters

He has this trip and one to UCLA in early October remaining. Rutgers employs David Cox, who used to coach Peters’ D.C. Assault travel team.

Saint Joseph’s

Visitor: SG Ahmad Fields

Scorer alert. The Hawks watched him at the Hoop Group Elite Camp in the all-star game.

SMU

Visitor: PF Ben Moore

Last weekend, the Mustangs had their big party highlighted by Jordan Mickey.

Southern Cal

Visitors: ESPN 100 PG Kendal Harris, PF Schuyler Rimmer

Rimmer broke up with his girlfriend (Florida) and got right back on the horse and started dating again. Is this a rebound relationship?

Stanford

Visitor: PF Hunter Myers

Another spring riser, Myers is a borderline Top 100 player and a valuable versatile power forward with a personality that fits the Stanford profile.

TCU

Visitor: PG Michael Williams

San Antonio will kick out a good player each year. This point guard is high on the Horned Frogs' radar.

Tennessee

Visitor: PG Travon Landry

Tennessee had an awesome week as it landed Robert Hubbs and A.J. Davis. Now the Vols get to breathe because Landry’s trip is ceremonial; he’s committed.

Texas A&M

Visitors: Davonte Fitzgerald, C Chuck Ogbodo

The Aggies have a bead on Ogbodo as they continue looking under rocks for unpolished bigs to turn into gems.

Tulsa

Visitors: ESPN 100 PF Chris Perry, ESPN 100 PG Stevie Clark

Clark’s trip isn’t in stone, but how about Danny Manning putting together a sneaky good recruiting weekend? He’s appealing to Perry’s rawness with his rep for working with bigs.

UNC Wilmington

Visitor: SG R.J. Currington

The Indiana native and Oak Hill wing can score. Can the Seahawks?

Virginia Tech

Visitors: ESPN 100 SF Donte Clark, PG Ike Irogebu, SG James Demery, F Keyshaun Woods

Clark and Irogebu would give the Hokies a dose of ACC-level athleticism at their respective positions.

Wake Forest

Visitor: SG Miles Overton

Overton’s dad played in the NBA. So did Wake assistant Rusty LaRue, and Jeff Bzdelik coached in the Association. Connection made.

Washington State

Visitor: PF Torren Jones

The Cougars could use a player of Jones’ athletic ability in their frontcourt.

Wisconsin

Visitor: PG Prentiss Nixon

We’ve got Nixon down for weekend trips to Iowa and Madison. Does he make both?
