Panthers get: G Roberto Luongo, F Steven Anthony
Over the span of the past five seasons, Tim Thomas (.935) and Roberto Luongo (.931) have been two of the NHL’s five best goalies in terms of even-strength save percentage. Now, they’re both on the same team.
The Panthers have been cycling through goalies over the last several years, waiting for prospect Jacob Markstrom to be ready. It became apparent that he might never be ready in Florida. In bringing Luongo back to Florida, GM Dale Tallon has solidified his goaltending for the forseeable future, erasing one of the gaping holes in his rebuilding process.
