The 6-foot-2, 172-pound quarterback said hello to coach Dan Hickey and accepted two pieces of mail. One was in an envelope from Washington. The other was sent from Washington State.

With a light drizzle blanketing the campus, I found shelter in the main office where I was the directed toward coach Kelly King’s classroom.
