UW walk-on commit has 'amazing' visit
So, after spending two days riding go-karts at K1 Speed and having dinner at the Columbia Tower, the trip exceeded anything the 6-foot, 195-pound walk-on commit could have imagined.
“It was amazing,” Turman said. “I didn’t think we were going to do all of the stuff we did. They took us to do things they’ve never done with recruits before and they said they never will. We took advantage of it.
“They took us to places I’ve never been to and never even knew about.”
SEATTLE -- After back-to-back weekends featuring a long list of official visitors, Washington only has a pair of prospects coming to campus.
And they don’t have to travel far.

UCLA visit solidifies Jack's commitment
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker’s experience during the trip was exactly what he hoped it would be when he gave the program a verbal commitment last June.

He was in Diamond Bar (Calif.) to watch film and extend scholarship offers to sophomore receivers Cordell Broadus and Kanya Bell. He spent an evening with cornerback commit Jermaine Kelly (Los Angeles/Salesian) during an in-home visit. And he stopped by Pomona (Calif.) High School to check in on linebacker commit Azeem Victor.

He knows what it is like to step onto the Husky Stadium turf in front of 70,000 fans as a member of a nationally ranked program. He understands what it means to lead the Huskies to a Rose Bowl victory.
Tuiasosopo, recently hired away from UCLA to coach quarterbacks at his alma mater, was the last quarterback to lead Washington to a top 10 ranking. He helped the Huskies win the 2001 Rose Bowl, which was also the last season the program won more than eight games.
He links Washington’s past with its future.

Ryan Turman helps UW's recruiting effort
The 6-foot-1, 171-pound cornerback has yet to spend any time around Turman, a 6-foot, 195-pound receiver out of Bellevue (Wash.) Interlake. But through social media, text messages and phone calls, the two seniors are becoming fast friends.
“Ryan Turman is my best friend, man,” Kelly said. “I think we’re going to be good friends up there. He’s a really cool dude.”

UW, UCLA continue to compete for recruits
SEATTLE -- Take a look at the ESPN.com 2013 football class rankings and it should come as little surprise Washington and UCLA sit side-by-side.
The Huskies (No. 19) and Bruins (No. 20) have been targeting a similar set of prospects throughout this recruiting cycle.

Jack, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound projected outside linebacker in college, confirmed he has an official visit to Arizona State on Friday. Following Arizona State, Jack will visit UCLA on Jan. 18, Washington on Jan. 25 and Oregon on Feb. 2.
Jack is solid with his commitment, but he said the three visits are necessary in reassuring that he wants to be a Bruin.

Receiver John Ross (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan) is planning to pick between Washington, Oregon and UCLA at Friday’s Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, and defensive end Joe Mathis (Upland, Calif./Upland) is expected to announce his college choice at Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
At this point, the Huskies seem to be the favorite to land both four-star prospects, even though Mathis said Thursday he might not have his final decision made -- his finalists are Washington, Alabama, USC and UCLA -- before his nationally televised announcement.

Myles Jack reacts to UW's Tuiasosopo hire
After hearing the former Washington quarterback was leaving his job as the Bruins’ tight ends coach to become the Huskies’ quarterbacks coach, Jack now has something else to think about as he decides where he will play college football.
“He was really heavily involved in my recruitment and everything. He was pretty much the person that got me to go to UCLA,” Jack said. “It has a big impact on me, because he recruited me.”

I wanted to see if Lavon Hooks had announced his decision. The defensive tackle out of Northeast Mississippi Community College, rated the No. 15 prospect in the ESPN Junior College 100, had Washington among his finalists.
Each time I checked for an update, his announcement had been delayed. On Thursday, news finally broke the Hooks had picked Ole Miss over his other finalists.

Myles Jack enjoys last-minute Utah visit
He knew he had one more he could take, but most coaches wanted him to come in January. He didn’t have enough weeks to fit everything in.
Then Utah called. The Utes offered him a last-minute trip. It was a chance to experience something new, so the 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker accepted the invitation.
