25 days, 25 names: Darrell Daniels
By Mason Kelley
For as long as Darrell Daniels (Oakley, Calif./Freedom) has been committed to Washington, he has shown his support for the Huskies.
Whether through Twitter hashtags or Husky beanies, the 6-foot-3, 211-pound receiver has displayed his affection for the program throughout the recruiting process.
Darrell Daniels is the No. 152 prospect in the ESPN 300 and the No. 17 receiver.
“I’m a Dawg all the way,” Daniels said during his senior season.
Rated the No. 17 receiver in the nation, Daniels gave Washington a verbal commitment in June. He has solid size, good hands and isn’t afraid to make a play with the defender draped all over him.
Then, once he gets the ball in his hands, he makes things happen. During his final season with Freedom, he did a little bit of everything.
As a receiver, he caught 54 passes for 947 yards and 11 touchdowns. He spent some time as a running quarterback, gaining 332 yards on 40 carries. He piled up 20 touchdowns and even spent time on defense, finishing with two interceptions and 38 tackles.
A versatile athlete, Daniels has the talent to contribute early in his college career. One of three receivers currently committed, Washington has added several explosive offensive weapons.
After taking his official visit Jan. 18, Daniels took to Twitter to affirm his commitment to Washington.
“All I have to say about my trip is I had a great time and I can't wait to come down and join the team! #godawgs,” he said.
He also tweeted he was shutting down the recruiting process and recently said he plans to sign his letter of intent at 2 p.m. on Feb. 6. One of five Washington commits in the ESPN 300 -- No. 150 -- Daniels is a key piece in a group currently rated No. 19 in the nation.
