No. 6 WR Stringfellow 'done' after visit
By Blair Angulo
ESPN 150 receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow (Moreno Valley, Calif./Rancho Verde) pulled off a slight surprise by scheduling a last-minute official visit to USC this weekend. The Washington commit, who is rated No. 6 at his position nationally and No. 1 in the state, had not hinted to having much interest in the Trojans since deciding on the Huskies in June.
The weekend visit to USC didn’t change anything.
“I’m done,” Stringfellow said in a text message. “I’m going to Washington.”
Stringfellow, who said he was sick and lost his voice, left campus before his scheduled visit with coach Lane Kiffin.
“I really didn’t talk to the coaches a lot,” Stringfellow said. “I was under the weather.”
Stringfellow was hosted by former high school teammate and Trojans tight end Junior Pomee. He said “seeing old teammates” was the highlight of his visit.
At one point, USC had verbal commitments from three receivers: No. 9 Sebastian LaRue (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica), No. 11 Steven Mitchell (Mission Hills, Calif./Bishop Alemany) and No. 21 Eldridge Massington (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite). With less than three weeks to go until national signing day, only Mitchell remains a part of the class as the coaching staff has turned its attention to reeling in defensive prospects.
