Alex Weber's 'dream' to play for Huskies
By Mason Kelley
AUBURN, Wash. -- When Steve Emtman talks, Alex Weber (Pasco, Wash./Chiawana) listens.
The former Washington star is now business partners with Weber’s father. And like Emtman, Weber wants to one day play in a purple-and-gold uniform.
When the junior linebacker was asked about his football future, he made it clear he wants to play for the Huskies.
“I want to play at UW,” he said. “I want to get a full ride. It’s just my dream, I guess.”
Emtman made a convincing case.
“He’s just given me some tips,” Weber said. “He was telling me how he liked the program. He’s just an amazing guy.”
Weber played for Team Washington in the Tanoa Bowl last week. He said he is receiving interest from several Division I universities and is keeping his options open but, if the Huskies one day offer him a scholarship, that’s where he plans to play college football.
“I’ve been to a few of their camps,” Weber said. “I know a few of their coaches. I’m just hoping they give me a scholarship.”
