SEATTLE -- Judging by the vitriol in my Twitter timeline, it must be time for the annual meeting between Washington and Oregon.
While soliciting questions for this week’s mailbag, one of the submissions simply asked what would have to happen for the Huskies to upset the Ducks and end an eight-year losing streak against the nation’s second-ranked program.
That prompted a few snarky responses, which is only to be expected as these two rivals prepare to play Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.
Both programs are coming off wins at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. The Huskies knocked off Stanford, 17-13, moving into the AP Top 25. The Ducks are coming off a 51-26 win over Washington State. Washington is looking for its first win over Oregon since 2003, the second step in a difficult stretch that started strong with last week’s win.
So, as the Huskies prepare to pull off a second straight upset, it is time to tackle the mailbag.
Here is this week’s HuskyNation mailbag:
@DAWGFATHER91 via Twitter: Starting to see UCLA fans get nervous about Myles Jack flipping, call it now, is he UDUB bound on LOI day?
HN: Since the Bellevue (Wash.) senior is having such a strong season and, since he has been at every Washington home game so far, there has been no shortage of talk about Jack flipping to Washington.
Here is the thing. He likes both programs. He is also getting some serious interest from Oregon. He really likes the attention the Huskies have paid him since his commitment to UCLA. It seems to me he will end up with the program that has the most momentum at the end of the season, whether that’s Washington or UCLA.
The only thing that would change that, as far as I can tell, is if the Ducks slip in there and wrestle him away from both programs. I wish I could make a prediction, but this one just seems too close to call right now.
