OL Dane Crane has 'incredible weekend'

10/1/2012

In the middle of the melee after Washington’s 17-13 upset win over Stanford, Dane Crane found himself face-to-face with his future position coach.

Dan Cozzetto, the Huskies’ offensive line coach, flashed a wide smile at the 6-foot-3, 305-pound center (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita).

Crane, who was on his official visit with teammate Connor O’Brien, said he picked the perfect week to catch a glimpse of what is waiting for him at Washington.

“It was awesome,” Crane said. “From start to finish it was just an incredible weekend.”

Crane flew in late Wednesday night and went straight to bed. Thursday was full of tours similar to what he went through when he was in Seattle for the Huskies’ junior day.

Then it was time to meet the team at the hotel for its walkthrough. Crane said he felt the focus, while watching Washington prepare for its game against the Cardinal.

“I think everybody in the locker room wearing black knew that they could do it,” Crane said. “They were just totally focused. Everybody looked ready to go and you could kind of sense that something big was going to happen and it did.”

After the game, Crane spent the evening with his hosts, Erik Kohler and Mike Criste.

“They took care of me and answered a lot of my questions,” Crane said. “Great guys, good people.”

On the final day of Crane’s visit he met with academic counselors and spent more time with Cozzetto and Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian. Crane ate lunch at the Space Needle and enjoyed another night in the city with Kohler and Criste.

Crane flew back to California and said, “I don’t think we could have chosen to come to a better game.”
