Mike Bethea knows basketball talent.
The coach at Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach has worked with NBA players Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson and Terrence Williams, to name a few.
When Bethea first had a chance to watch Shaqquan Aaron during a recent open gym, only one word came to mind -- “Wow.”
Bethea said Monday that the four-star recruit has transferred to Rainier Beach and will play his junior season in Seattle.
The 6-foot-6, 175-pound junior forward, rated the No. 42 prospect in the ESPN 60, holds offers from Washington, Connecticut and Arizona, among others. He spent his freshman year at Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei. He was homeschooled as a sophomore and didn’t play high school basketball.
The Vikings are the defending Class 3A state champions in Washington and should be a threat to repeat this season with the addition of Aaron, who joins a talented nucleus.
