John Ross wants to win in Long Beach, Calif., before tackling the task of selecting a school.
Since the 5-foot-9, 170-pound receiver (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan) is focused on his senior season he has yet to take the time to make his final choice.
“I’m just taking everything slow right now,” Ross said.
But, while he waits to narrow his list -- his final five includes Washington, Oregon, UCLA, Wisconsin and Nebraska -- he wanted to make sure he took a trip to watch Washington play.
Ross was in Seattle Saturday on an unofficial visit to watch the Huskies beat San Diego State, 21-12, at CenturyLink Field.
“It was great, honestly,” Ross said. “It was fun. The coaches were great. The players were great. I know so many people up there. I really just wanted to go check out the game.”
“I told them I would come for a game and the guys I know were thrilled about it. I just went up there to have a good time,” Ross said.
While it was fun for Ross to watch a college game in the Seattle Seahawks’ stadium, he has heard a lot about the Husky Stadium renovation. The chance to play in a new stadium is an exciting option for the senior.
“I’m thrilled hearing about the new stadium,” Ross said. “If I do make my decision on Washington, that’s a good look right there.”
Ross will take an official visit to Oregon Oct. 6 and will be at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore. when the Ducks play the Huskies.
“That’s exactly why I picked it,” Ross said.
Ross plans to come back to Seattle for an official visit at some point, but he hasn’t set a date. He wants to attend Washington’s game against USC the weekend after his trip to Oregon and is considering a second unofficial visit, because “I love it up there.”
