LB Myles Jack to visit Oregon

Despite a being a long-time commit to UCLA, one of the top players in the Northwest has been open to other schools continuing to recruit him. LB Myles Jack (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue) recently helped Bellevue -- one of the nation's top teams -- to another state title. Now that his senior season is complete, Jack appears to be turning all of his attention to the recruiting process.

The US Army All-American LB is happy with everything about UCLA but wants to explore what other programs have to offer. After earlier flirting with the Oregon Ducks, the two seemingly parted ways over the past couple of months. Ducks' LB coach Don Pellum visited Jack last week, and the two realized that both sides deserve another look.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound three-star prospect recently set four official visits that will all be taken after his trip to San Antonio, Texas, for the U.S. Army All-American Game. Jack has settled on official visits to Arizona State, UCLA, Washington and Oregon.

Doug Elliott (San Jacinto, Calif./Mount San Jacinto Community College) knows it’s getting down to mid-term signing day for junior college players.

He also knows once that first offer comes, it likely will snowball as the 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety looks to sign with a team probably after many of the other juco players do.

“You get a little nervous, because now it will be crunch time for some of those schools to make decisions on me,” Elliott said. “It’s exciting, but frustrating as well.”

WR Devon Allen is setting visits

Wide receiver Devon Allen (Phoenix/Brophy Prep) released a top-15 list in early July, but that group is beginning to narrow as the 6-foot, 187-pound speedster focuses on fall visits and finalists.

Allen did plenty of traveling and research this summer as he visited several Pac-12 and Big Ten campuses. But his first official visit will be to an SEC program, as Arkansas will host Allen on Sept. 14. It is the only trip Allen has firmly scheduled, but official visits to Notre Dame on Sept. 21 and Texas on Oct. 5 are also possibilities. With so many programs in the mix, Allen will eventually settle on five official visits, but that likely won’t be the end of his travels before signing day, as several unofficial visits could take place as well.

“I would like to visit Washington, UCLA and Ohio State hopefully as well,” he said. “I’ve been to Ohio State and Notre Dame already, so I’m not sure which one I’ll go visit again. I’ll have to decide. Notre Dame is showing me a lot of interest.”

When one spends time on the Los Angeles Dorsey campus, it doesn’t take long to receive an introduction to "DDP," which stands for Dorsey Don Pride. But on the football field this fall it might be more about DDB -- Dorsey Defensive Backs.

It is an absolutely loaded year for defensive back talent on the West Coast, and Southern California in particular, but the Dons boast a group that can match up with anybody and looks to prove they are the best in their league, if not beyond. It could be a scary proposition for opposing offenses, facing a defense that recorded 24 interceptions last season and should be even better in the back four this season.

The group starts with cornerback Daquawn Brown and safety Jayme Otomewo, who have played together since seventh grade. The seniors combined for seven interceptions last season and serve as the unquestioned leaders of the defense. Brown has already received eight scholarship offers, while Otomewo claims six. And while that one-two punch would be enough for most high school secondaries, Dorsey was the beneficiary of several transfers that now make this one of the top units in the state.
