California QB takes in UGA, Elite 11

April, 14, 2013
BUFORD, Ga. -- ESPN Watch List Brandon Dawkins (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) really wants to be in the Elite 11 quarterback competition. In fact, he and his family flew more than 2,000 miles to compete in Saturday's Atlanta regional.

The Elite 11 this year will be combined with The Opening so invitations are limited.

Coveted OLB names a top five

March, 14, 2013
ATHENS, Ga. -- Outside linebacker Jacob Pugh (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) isn’t exactly sure of how many offers he has. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior has not counted them. Once he had received over 30 offers to the top programs in the nation, there really seemed no point in doing so. Pugh is more concerned about the five that he has on top.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Considering that running back Jacques Patrick (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) is only in his second year of high school but already has 25 scholarship offers, the case can be made that Patrick is one of the most coveted prospects in the Class of 2015.

Demarre Kitt's popularity on the rise

December, 5, 2012

TYRONE, Ga. -- ESPN Watch List wide receiver Demarre Kitt has been popular over the last 10 days. A number of college coaches have stopped by Sandy Creek (Ga.) High School to check in on the 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior who sports offers from 11 major programs such as USC, Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson.

Kitt was verbally committed to Georgia for a few months before reopening his recruitment. The Bulldogs had three coaches, Rodney Garner, Kirk Olivadotti and Scott Lakos, at his game Friday night. While their attention was focused mainly on Georgia commit cornerback Shaq Wiggins, Kitt was happy to see them.

Watch: Max Redfield now soft commitment

October, 26, 2012

No. 37 overall senior Max Redfield made waves when he described his commitment to USC as "soft" after a recent visit to Notre Dame. Blair Angulo explains what it means for the Trojans.

CB Chris Hawkins still likes Trojans

October, 19, 2012
videoGLENDORA, Calif. -- After a perfect trip to Notre Dame left his head spinning, it took four-star cornerback Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) a few days to gather his thoughts and clear his mind.

In the end, Hawkins settled on what he’s known all along: He is a USC Trojan, through and through.

“I’m 100 percent committed to USC,” Hawkins said Thursday following a dominant 45-13 victory against Glendora at Citrus College. “I took Notre Dame, Washington and Cal visits. I’ve seen what those schools are like and those schools have nothing on USC.”

Five key games featuring USC recruits

September, 6, 2012
Here are this week's top five high school football games featuring USC recruits:

[+] EnlargeMax Browne
Tom Hauck for ESPN.comSammamish (Wash.) Skyline QB and USC commit Max Browne takes to the road this week.
Sammamish (Wash.) Skyline at Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood: The Max Browne show hits the road this week for what promises to be an aerial display. The USC quarterback commit passed for 291 yards and a touchdown in last week's opener and looks to continue his excellent start Friday against fellow Elite 11 competitor Cooper Bateman and reeling Cottonwood (0-2). Bateman, an Alabama commit, will try to steer Cottonwood away from its third straight loss to open the season. Browne and Skyline (1-0) have other plans. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU at 7 p.m. PT.

Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure vs. Redlands (Calif.) East Valley at Redlands High School: USC defensive end commit Kylie Fitts takes pride in his ability to pursue the ball, and he'll get his chance to prove it once more Friday against St. Bonaventure tailback Zachary Green, an Arizona commit who torched Corona (Calif.) Centennial for 164 rushing yards in a win last week. REV (1-0) and its talented defense face a difficult test against St. Bonny (2-0), which has hung over 40 points in each of its two games this season.

Breakdown of Jalen Ramsey's choices

July, 15, 2012
With Jalen Ramsey's decision right around the corner, here's my assessment of the seven schools vying for the ESPN 150 cornerback from Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy. Ramsey will announce his decision Monday at 2 p.m. eastern.

--Clear-cut favorite – Southern California

Everything seems to point to the Trojans. Ramsey visited USC's campus twice in less than a month and will announce his decision just a few weeks after those trips. That obviously shows strong interest in the Trojans and the timing is just too significant.

USC Rising Stars Camp preview

June, 25, 2012
The USC Rising Stars Camp will take place this week from June 26-27 and it should once again be one of the top recruiting camps of the year.

The camp should feature some intense competition as the Trojans only have eight spots available for the class of 2013 and the on-field performances could go a long way in determining who fills those spots.

Here’s a look at three of the top uncommitted players who will be taking part in the camp and how they could be impacted by what happens this week:

“Which position do you think Su’a Cravens will play at USC?”

Garry Paskwietz

It’s a tribute to Su’a Cravens that so many position coaches are fighting to get him at their spot, but I think his eventual destination for the Trojans will be at free safety.
