Class of 2014 running back Racean Thomas (Oxford, Ala./Oxford) received quite the treat on Halloween.
The ESPN Watch List member picked up a verbal offer from USC running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu, adding to a list that already included SEC powers Alabama, Florida and LSU. Thomas was close to committing recently, but with more schools entering the fold, that's no longer the case.
"This USC offer means a lot," the 5-foot-11, 182-pound Thomas said. "It's just another school that I can consider going to, really. It feels good to have another opportunity. It's not a big deal in my decision because in my mind, I was thinking I was going to wait it out, anyway. Earlier this season, I was feeling like I was ready to commit but as of right now, I'm probably going to wait it out."

After sending out his highlight tape to schools, Class of 2015 running back Jacques Patrick (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) had been waiting to hear back from USC for quite some time.
Patrick heard back from the Trojans on Monday night, receiving a verbal offer from assistant coach Tee Martin.
"USC is one of the offers I really wanted," Patrick said. "To finally get it is a blessing. I've been patient and been trying to get in touch with them. They reviewed my film and said they'd love to have me. They believe I can dominate the Pac-12, and they think I can play right away. They run a pro-style offense. My style is downhill running, and that's what they run. That's a plus for sure."

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Cornerback prospect Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas/Ozen) is one of two 2014 prospects competing at the Champions Gridiron Kings this weekend.
The 6-foot-0, 179-pound athlete said he was honored to be invited to the event.
"It's great," Brown said. "I'm trying to take it as humbly as I can. I'm loving it that they regard me as highly as they do. I'm trying to take advantage of the situation and try to prove them right."

One of the biggest USC recruiting targets at The Opening -- literally and figuratively -- has been defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes from Auburn (Calif.) Placer.
Vanderdoes (6-foot-3, 285 pounds) is a player who is athletic enough to also star as a baseball pitcher in addition to being one of the most highly touted d-line prospects in the nation and he is a huge priority on the wish list for Trojans coaches.
USC would like to add two more bodies on the D-line for this class and Vanderdoes is showing a lot of mutual interest in the Trojans.
