USC offers Watch List LB from Alabama
By Greg Ostendorf
USC has not been shy about its pursuit of some of the top 2014 prospects in the state of Alabama. The Trojans have already offered ESPN Watch List juniors Ronnie Clark, Justin Thornton and Tre Williams, and you can add another one to the list.
On Tuesday, USC assistant coach Ed Orgeron extended an offer to Auburn, Ala., linebacker Rashaan Evans.
“USC is all the way out there in Los Angeles, so that’s a big deal for me,” Evans said. It’s a major school. It’s definitely a place I’ll probably look at.”
Evans already has over 20 offers from schools all over the country, but for now, he’s still trying to get to know the coaching staffs at the two in-state schools, Alabama and Auburn. He took in the Crimson Tide’s junior day last month.
“Really, I’ve just been trying to get to know the coaching staff at Auburn, get in touch with them, and Alabama as well,” Evans said.
“The [Auburn] coaches are straight, especially Coach [Gus] Malzahn. I’m real cool with him and Coach Rodney Garner as well, so I’m definitely getting to know all of the coaches.”
Evans says he’ll narrow his list over the next couple of months. This weekend, he’s planning to attend another junior day at either LSU or Tennessee.
