Wilton Speight is willing to look west
By Dave Hooker
Wilton Speight is considering visits to two Pac-12 schools.
The ESPN Watch List quarterback from Richmond (Va.) Collegiate will be in Los Angeles this weekend for a media event. He'll also meet with renowned quarterbacks coach Steve Clarkson and possibly tour the campuses of UCLA and USC.
The two schools might have to fight to get Speight that far west, considering he already has strong interest from schools closer to home. Tennessee and new coach Butch Jones have shown strong interest lately.
"Cincinnati was recruiting me really hard, which means Tennessee is now," Speight said.
Having an established relationship can only help the Vols recruit Speight.
"I really like them," he said. "They are committed to getting the program back to the top."
Speight has also seen interest from Alabama, Auburn, Boston College, California, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound junior has yet to receive his first scholarship offer.
