USC high school all-star game guide

By Blair Angulo

LOS ANGELES -- With all 16 verbal commitments selected to compete in the upcoming all-star games, the USC Trojans will have great representation under the national spotlight. There will also be particular interest in a handful of in-game announcements, namely that of recent official visitor Leon McQuay III (Seffner, Fla./Armwood), a top safety target who intends to enroll early. Here’s a guide to all USC recruits in next week’s All-American games:

Under Armour All-American Game

When: Jan. 4, 2 p.m. PT
TV: ESPN
Site: Tropicana Field (St. Petersburg, Fla.)

USC commits: RB Ty Isaac, WR Sebastian LaRue

Others: DT Montravius Adams, LB Trey Johnson, DE Carl Lawson, McQuay III, LB Quinton Powell, ATH Max Redfield, LB Matthew Thomas, DB Priest Willis

Noteworthy: McQuay, Redfield and Willis all plan to announce their commitments during the game. McQuay will decide between Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, South Florida, USC and Vanderbilt. Redfield, the former Trojans commit who said recently that he has already made up his mind, will choose either Notre Dame or USC. Willis, perhaps the region’s most diligent recruit, might postpone his announcement as he gathers more information. ... LaRue should have an opportunity to make a statement against top 10 cornerbacks Vernon Hargreaves III, Shaq Wiggins, Cam Burrows, Jeryl Brazil, Gareon Conley and Artie Burns in practice.

U.S. Army All-American Game

When: Jan. 5, 10 a.m. PT
TV: NBC
Site: Alamodome (San Antonio, Texas)

USC commits: DT Kenny Bigelow, QB Max Browne, SS Su’a Cravens, RB Justin Davis, OT Nico Falah, DE Kylie Fitts, DE Jason Hatcher, CB Chris Hawkins, LB Michael Hutchings, WR Steven Mitchell, DE Torrodney Prevot, CB Jalen Ramsey, OG Khaliel Rodgers, DT Eddie Vanderdoes

Others: FS Tahaan Goodman, DE Joe Mathis, DT A'Shawn Robinson

Noteworthy: There are a number of potential one-on-one battles that should draw interest: Hatcher/Prevot vs. Falah, Mitchell vs. Ramsey, Vanderdoes vs. Rodgers. ... Browne and Davis could provide a glimpse of the future backfield if they’re in the game at the same time. The same can be said for a Cravens-Hawkins-Hutchings-Vanderdoes look on defense. ... Fitts (wrist) is hopeful that he’ll be fully healed to participate fully in the game. ... This is the final high school football experience for Bigelow, Browne, Cravens, Davis, Fitts and Hawkins, who all plan to enroll at USC on Jan. 10 and attend their first class Jan. 14.
