Isaac not enrolling early at USC

By Blair Angulo

A bumpy senior season for four-star running back Ty Isaac (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) has gotten bumpier.

Isaac said Thursday he will not enroll early at USC as originally planned, though not by his own accord. He committed to the Trojans in May and had voiced his intent to graduate early from high school, but recent obstacles regarding Joliet Catholic's policy will not make it possible for him to enroll at USC in time for the spring semester. Classes at USC begin Jan. 14.

"Just didn't work out down the line with a couple things," Isaac said in a text message.

Isaac had set his official visit to Los Angeles for Dec. 7 along with the rest of USC's early enrollees: defensive tackle Kenny Bigelow, quarterback Max Browne, safety Su'a Cravens, running back Justin Davis, defensive end Kylie Fitts, cornerback Chris Hawkins and receiver Eldridge Massington. Now, the plan is for Isaac to "probably" take his official visit to USC on Jan. 18 with the other Trojans commits.

Nagging injuries added stress throughout Isaac's senior season. He suffered a shoulder sprain in the season opener and reaggravated the injury later in the fall. Isaac also dealt with a groin injury early in the playoffs. Joliet Catholic finished 9-5, losing by three points in the Illinois Class 5A semifinals.

Isaac, who had an in-home visit with USC assistant coach John Baxter on Monday night, has no plans to take any other official visits.

"None as of right now," he said.
