Key games featuring USC recruits

By Blair Angulo

Seven USC commits saw their seasons end in the playoffs last week, leaving eight remaining in the hunt for rings. Here are this week’s seven playoff games featuring Trojans commits, headlined by a battle between two future teammates:

Su'a Cravens
Su'a Cravens takes on fellow USC commit Chris Hawkins in a huge Southern Section Inland Division semifinal.
Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) at Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta: It’s USC commit against USC commit in the CIF Southern Section Inland Division semifinals. Rancho Cucamonga’s Chris Hawkins might be the only cornerback in the region capable of matching up with Vista Murrieta’s Su’a Cravens on the outside. The game will be streamed live by Fox Sports West through its PrepZone Live online platform. Kickoff is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. PT.

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco vs. Long Beach (Calif.) Poly at Veterans Stadium: USC offensive line commit Nico Falah and St. John Bosco are a win away from reaching the CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Division title game. Standing in the way is traditional power Poly, which shocked No. 2-seeded Mission Viejo and former Trojans commit Max Redfield. The game will be televised locally on Fox Sports West. Kickoff is slated for Friday at 7:30 p.m. PT.

Pleasanton (Calif.) Amador Valley at Concord (Calif.) De La Salle: USC linebacker commit Michael Hutchings and De La Salle keep on rolling through the CIF North Coast Division 1 bracket. They are two wins away of the fulfilling their preseason expectation.

Sammamish (Wash.) Skyline vs. Camas (Wash.) at Tacoma Dome: Signal-caller Max Browne has passed for 3,754 yards and 41 touchdowns this season. Almost as impressive is that he’s thrown only four interceptions. The USC commit looks to continue the trend in the WIAA 4A semifinals on Friday.

Georgetown (Ky.) Scott County at Louisville (Ky.) Trinity: Defensive end commit Jason Hatcher and No. 1-seeded Trinity squeaked their way into this week’s KHSAA Class 6A semifinal. Anything short of a title would be a disappointment for the top team in the state.

Houston (Texas) Alief Taylor vs. Houston (Texas) Lamar at Reliant Stadium: USC defensive end commit Torrodney Prevot scored two defensive touchdowns last week in the first round of the UIL Texas State Conference 5A Division 1 playoffs. He had four sacks and an interception.

Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton vs. Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium, Saturday: The AIA Division 1 championship is a rematch of the season opener, which Mountain Pointe won by a 17-14 score on Aug. 24. While No. 3-seeded Hamilton features 2014 offensive line commit Casey Tucker, top seed Mountain Pointe is led by UCLA offensive line commit Kenny Lacy and ESPN Watch List athlete Jalen Brown.
