2014 WR Kitt sets up visit to USC

By Blair Angulo

A recent decommitment has given Class of 2014 receiver Demarre Kitt (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) new freedom to explore his options and perhaps opened the door for USC to snag one of the top recruits in the Peach State.

"I just got off the phone with USC and they're saying how much they can use me," Kitt said Wednesday night. "They really want me, even with the scholarship limitations. It means a lot to me."

Kitt, who reopened his recruitment last week by decommitting from Georgia, has USC in his top three along with Clemson and Georgia. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete gained interest in the Trojans while on a visit to campus this past summer.

"I love how much they throw ball out there," Kitt said. "I went down there and they told me about the history of their receivers. I was out there for a summer camp but I did not participate in it. It was a nice campus, definitely one of the best I've seen."

Kitt said he has developed a "great" relationship with his primary recruiter, USC receivers coach Tee Martin.

"We talk probably once a week," Kitt said. "The tradition they have with receivers is great. I think I can become a playmaker at USC. Coach Martin has shown he can get guys to the NFL."

Kitt has planned to make a trip to Los Angeles for the Trojans' highly anticipated Pac-12 showdown with Oregon on Nov. 3. It's shaping up to be a crucial weekend for USC recruiting, and Kitt said he is excited to be a part of it.

Through his recent decommitment, the ESPN Watch List member has taken a more relaxed approach. He doesn't anticipate making another decision anytime soon.

"When I know for sure, I'll commit," Kitt said. "When I don't want to take any other visits, I'll know. I'll probably commit after my senior season. I've decided to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game, so I'll probably wait to do it then."
