No Friday decision for Justin Manning
By Damon Sayles
Asked how he felt about the uncertainty of his upcoming recruiting decision, ESPN 150 defensive tackle Justin Manning (Dallas/Kimball) responded with four words.
“Words can’t explain it,” he said.
With uncertainty comes delay, as Manning, one of the top remaining players in the Class of 2013 from the Lone Star State, confirmed on Monday that he no longer has plans of announcing his college decision this week. The 6-foot-2, 275-pound, four-star tackle originally was scheduled to announce on Friday during Kimball’s game against Dallas Pinkston, but he said he will use additional time to further weigh all of his options.
“I’m just not ready,” he said. “Thought I was, but I just need a little more time.”
Manning, who was named the Kimball homecoming king Saturday evening, has Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M, TCU and USC in his top five. He was scheduled to visit LSU this past week but had to postpone the visit because of the homecoming dance. Manning used his Saturday morning and afternoon being a spectator at the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl. He hopes to visit LSU in two weeks.
Manning, No. 89 in the ESPN 150, is ranked No. 8 among defensive tackles nationally and No. 11 among all players in Texas.
