Whether it's keeping up with his fellow commits or giving a play-by-play of his official visit, Michael Hutchings is one of the most active USC recruits on Twitter. So when we wanted to find someone to interact with fans, he was a natural pick. After receiving some great questions @WeAreSCstaff, we sent the best ones on to Hutchings for his responses.
@uscarlos: How does coach Pendergast differ from Monte Kiffin?
Michael Hutchings: "Coach Pendergast differs from Monte in scheme and also mindset. Coach Pendergast is a lot more attack style of defense, playing fast and simple. Keeping the opposing team off balanced as he likes to dictate the game and make the offense react to what they are doing on defense rather than reacting to the offense."
@Gr8Halosfan: De La Salle Spartans are known for playing against national powerhouses. Was there a team from SoCal/the South you would have liked to play and why?
Hutchings: "I would have really liked the chance to play Vista Murrieta because of the fact that Su'a [Cravens] played for them, and we always went back and forth about who was better as a team."
@hitman12131976: What made you KNOW that USC was THE destination for you? Was it a coach, the campus, etc.?
Hutchings: "I knew USC was the place for me by the school, mostly. Everything that they offered from a football standpoint and also opportunities outside of football. In college football, there are always coaching changes, so I couldn't base my decision just on the staff, but they made the decision much easier with the system they run and how they operate like an NFL team. Along with that, I felt at home with the players on the team."
@aaronleininger1: What position do you want to play most at SC?
Hutchings: "I'm looking forward to playing the WILL linebacker position at USC, which is the weak-side linebacker in their defense, where a lot of great history has been made at the school. I'm looking forward to going in and learning from the guys ahead of me and hopefully adding to the rich tradition."
@jbrax1122: What college or NFL player do you think you best compare to?
Hutchings: "I think I best compare to Shayne Skov of Stanford because I like the versatility he has. With the ability to cover and have athleticism while still being a physical, downhill linebacker."
