Chalk up another recruiting win for the hottest college football program around.
USC landed a commitment from class of 2014 offensive tackle Casey Tucker (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) on Wednesday, adding to offensive line pledges Toa Lobendahn (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood) and Jordan Poland (La Jolla, Calif./Country Day) in next year's recruiting class.
The coaching staff has been successful in building a star-filled 2013 class that includes 11 recruits ranked in the ESPN 150, but Tucker's quick commitment is an indication that USC is far from content.
"I've recently decided that USC is by the far the best school for me," said Tucker, who had offers from the likes of Boise State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Washington.
Tucker visited the USC campus for the first time last weekend and instantly became enamored. His final decision came down to USC, hometown Arizona State and Nebraska, but in the end he couldn't pass on what the Trojans had to offer.
"It's basically everything I'm looking for in a program with academics and football," Tucker said. "The academics are spot on, exactly what I wanted. One of the best programs there is in accounting and that's what I'm interested in. With football, the coaches are great. The campus is great. It's fairly close to home, so the location is great. This is the place I want to go to."
USC has two offensive line commits in the class: Nico Falah (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) and Khaliel Rodgers (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian Academy). But at this point three early verbals from rising juniors can't be overlooked. Tucker only recently started talking with Trojans offensive line coach James Cregg, and it didn't take long for them to build a strong relationship.
"We've definitely gotten to know each other well the past few days," Tucker said. "I like the way USC takes care of its players."
