Five who stood out at Nike Camp

5/20/2012

SAN PABLO, Calif. -- Here's a look at five USC prospects who stood out at the Northern California Nike Football Training Camp which was held on Sunday at Contra Costa College:

• QB Max Browne (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline)

Browne followed up on his MVP performance at the Elite 11 camp on Friday with another solid effort on Sunday at the NFTC. There is an awful lot to like about his game and he was easily the top quarterback prospect in attendance,

• RB Justin Davis (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln)

Davis is a pure running back. Nice size and movement with some wiggle and wasn’t afraid to stick his nose in there during pass blocking drills.

• WR Trenton Irwin (Newhall, Calif./Hart)

Irwin, a class of 2015 recruit, has been a mainstay on the spring camp circuit and anyone who watches him comes away impressed with his game. He doesn’t really stand out in any one area, he just does everything well with a good feel for the position.

• DL Elijah Qualls (Petaluma, Calif./Casa Grande)

Qualls could fit the mold of a shorter, stocky lineman that USC has seen in recent years with guys like Mike Patterson, Sedrick Ellis and Jurrell Casey.

• LB Michael Hutchings (Concord, Calif./De La Salle)

Hutchings has real good instincts for the game and one can tell he has a toughness which comes out on the field. He hasn’t been the fastest linebacker out there at either Nike Camp this spring but did enough on Sunday to earn an invite to The Opening.
