Defensive end recruiting analysis

November, 3, 2011
So much attention has been paid to the Trojans losing the commitment of Arik Armstead (Elk Grove, Calif./Pleasant Grove). While getting him back into the class is a priority, there are two out-of-state defensive ends that would go a long way toward lessening the blow if Armstead does indeed sign somewhere else.

The first is Noah Spence (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), the No. 4 player in the ESPNU 150 and a likely first-year contributor wherever he ends up. Spence has been relatively quiet about his college intentions, but most believe it will be a three-team race between Florida, LSU and Penn State. However, Spence has always included USC in his top group and has said before that he would like to visit Los Angeles. There is no guarantee that he will make it out to USC on an official visit, but the Trojans coaches proved last season that they can close in a big way with January weekends.
