Another member of USC's 2013 recruiting class will be headed to Beaverton, Ore. this summer to participate in The Opening. Defensive tackle Kenny Bigelow (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian Academy) is the latest, earning the invitation after an outstanding performance at the Baltimore Nike Football Training Camp.
While one of the four-day camp's main attractions is the 7-on-7 tournament, offensive and defensive linemen aren't left out of the festivities, as they able to don shoulder pads and helmets and get in some serious work of their own.
"I just want to go out and get all the coaching I can," Bigelow said in a text message. "I plan on treating it like every other event and going hard."
Of course, there is a balance of work and play at the event, and Bigelow has heard stories of both from last year.
"I've heard that you get tons of coaching and tons of gear," he said. "Both sound good to me."
Bigelow hasn't been shy about recruiting for USC at different events, and this will give him an opportunity to spend time with several future teammates, as well as 149 of the top recruits in the country.
"It will be a great deal of fun as well as a great experience for me," Bigelow said.
