Under Armour All-American defensive lineman Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City) can now continue to focus on his spring conditioning.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound junior had recently stated that he was wavering on his commitment to Florida, but on Wednesday night he was singing a different tune.
"I'm solid to the Florida Gators," Brantley said. "That's where I'm headed."
Brantley admits that he has missed some of the attention of being an uncommitted prospect, but that wasn't the reason for his wavering. Only Florida and Florida State have stopped by to see him during spring practice thus far.
"I was really looking at the depth chart and trying to figure things out," Brantley added. "I have never spent a minute on the bench, and I don't want to sit when I get to college.
"I'm aware that I won't be starting as a freshman, but I'm going to get some snaps. Everything will be fine."
Brantley said the slight distraction hasn't ruined his spring and his efforts to lose weight. Brantley weighed in at 6-foot-3, 302 pounds at the Orlando Nike Football Training Camp and has been trying to get his weight down.
"I'm at 295 right now so I'm getting there," Brantley said. "The coaches want me at around 280-285."
Brantley also says he's going to take some official visits this fall. He will visit Florida when the Gators host South Carolina and is also looking at an official to USC.
