After checking in as the No. 2 tight end for much of the process, USC commit Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick (Rocklin, Calif./Whitney) leapt 15 spots in the final ESPNU 150 and grabbed the No. 1 spot away from Florida commit Colin Thompson (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood).
Cope-Fitzpatrick had a tremendous showing during practices for the Under Armour All-America Game and impressed during the game as well, hauling in several passes, including a touchdown.
This marks the third time in five years the Trojans have hauled in the No. 1 tight end in the country, after signing Blake Ayles (Orange, Calif./Lutheran) in 2008 and Xavier Grimble (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) in 2010.
