Texas 10: Week 13 power rankings
By HornsNation staff
Each week, HornsNation will rank Texas' top 10 performers of the season up to this point:
1. DE Alex Okafor: The ankle injury Okafor suffered against TCU served as a necessary reminder that he’s the most irreplaceable cog of this Texas defense, both in performance and leadership.
Texas wideout Mike Davis has 51 catches and 891 yards receiving this season, plus seven touchdown grabs.
2. S Kenny Vaccaro: Had a strong senior night, leading Texas with 10 tackles and playing all over the field. No Longhorns defender gets asked to do more in a game than Vaccaro on a weekly basis.
3. WR Jaxon Shipley:Finished with a game-high 80 receiving yards on six catches. He’s as reliable as ever and nearly impossible to stop over the middle. And he’s only a sophomore.
4. RB Johnathan Gray: Undeniably the Longhorns’ best back at this point. Gray leads all Big 12 freshmen in rushing and was heavily involved early on vs. TCU.
5. CB Quandre Diggs: Held Josh Boyce without a catch, though TCU only threw the ball seven times. Frogs avoided him, but he still recorded three tackles.
6. LB Steve Edmond: Getting better every week. Texas’ run defense took a pounding, but Edmond did his job and filled his gaps consistently.
7. WR Mike Davis: Made some plays over the middle and recorded six catches, but you wonder why Texas didn’t send him deep more and take some shots.
