2014 DE Sekou Clark enjoys Texas visit
By Max Olson
Texas didn’t bring in many recruits on unofficial visits on Saturday, due in large part to the kickoff time (11 a.m.) and the foe (Iowa State). But one intriguing 2014 prospect did make his way down from the Dallas area.
Denton (Texas) Ryan defensive end Sekou Clark took in the Longhorns’ 33-7 win over the Cyclones and came away pleased with his first trip to Texas’ campus.
“It was a good game,” he said. “It wasn’t a game that a lot of recruits were at because it was a little boring and wasn’t a big game. But I enjoyed myself.”
Clark made the trip with two teammates, 2014 defensive tackle J.T. Williams and 2015 offensive lineman Tristan Brown, and enjoyed getting to spend time with former Ryan teammate and UT freshman fullback Alex De La Torre after the game.
“I’d only been to Austin once, and that was last year when we played a state basketball game,” Clark said. “I didn’t really get to see a lot of the campus that time. But I talked to Alex and hung out with him after the game, and he showed me around. He said he’s liking Texas a lot.”
Texas already has a verbal commitment from one 2014 defensive end, Derick Roberson, and has offered at least three more. Clark is not in that group, but he’s hoping to pick up a UT offer when he returns to Austin this spring for a junior day.
The 6-foot-3, 217-pound Clark doesn't have any offers yet but is receiving interest from Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU, Notre Dame and Florida State, among others.
“I’m really open to most schools, but I like a lot of them,” Clark said. “I like UT. I also like LSU, A&M and OU. I like a lot of schools right now, but I’m keeping my options open.”
