Texas offers 2015 WR Lodge

By William Wilkerson

Excuse Damarkus Lodge (Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill) if he's at a loss for words right now.

Last night, he talked to Texas recruiting coordinator Bruce Chambers, who extended an offer his way.

Class of 2015 receiver Damarkus Lodge now has two offers.
"Coach [Bruce] Chambers told me that coach [Darrell] Wyatt was amazed at what he saw of me this morning out on the field," Lodge said. "He thinks I can be one of the best wide receivers in the nation. I'm by far the best he's seen in my class. He was just saying a bunch of good things."

Wyatt stopped by Cedar Hill this morning and watched Lodge work out.

"The drills that we normally do with the team. I worked on getting off the press, ran routes and did some seven-on-seven," he said.

Lodge didn't have a standout sophomore campaign to warrant this offer. He only caught six passes for 56 yards all season. But he's blossomed this spring into one of the bigger names in 2015.

"When they see me workout it's like I'm so far ahead of everybody my age," he said. "I do everything perfect. I work hard and finish hard."

Lodge already held an offer from Arizona State but he said the Longhorns were definitely a school he was hoping would reach out to him.

"Texas is one of those schools that I want to hear from," Lodge said. "It's a great tradition down there. Great football team. It's like family down there. It means a lot to me to get an offer from Texas."

Lodge will be the go-to target at Cedar Hill next season now that Quincy Adeboyejo, who caught 91 passes for more than 1,000 yards, is at Ole Miss.
