OL Hammad decommits, has a top 4

By Damon Sayles

The stage is now set for three-star offensive lineman Rami Hammad (Irving, Texas/Irving) to make a final decision. That day will come Wednesday.

After a productive official visit to Texas, Hammad confirmed that he has decommitted from Baylor and will choose among Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas on Wednesday at his high school. Hammad, a 6-foot-5, 314-pound lineman who can play guard or tackle, switched his commitment to Baylor in November after being originally committed to Oklahoma State.

Hammad, although still very interested in the Bears, confirmed the decommitment after his visit to Austin, Texas. He said he originally was planning on visiting Oklahoma this past weekend.

“I went to Texas, and I loved the visit,” he said. “I loved the campus, I loved the coaches. I loved everything about it.”

Hammad added that while he has a top four, Missouri and LSU have recently offered. He called the overall opportunity “a blessing” and looks to make one school happy on Wednesday.

“I think I made a statement that I’m better than a three-star,” Hammad said. “I tried to prove that in every game, and adding new offers since then has been great. It’s a good problem to have, being confused and all. This is a longtime decision, and I need to make the right choice.”
