Wildcats land another Hutch CC defender
By Max Olson
Kansas State has had a lot of success in the past with players from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College. And the Wildcats are hoping to strike it rich again with their latest commitment.
Linebacker De'Vondre Campbell committed to Kansas State.
Hutchinson coach Rion Rhoades and Blue Dragons linebackers coach Shaun Simon confirmed that three-star outside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell has committed to Kansas State. The 6-foot-5, 224-pounder picked the Wildcats on Tuesday over Tennessee, Texas and Minnesota. Campbell visited Manhattan, Kan., this past weekend and will no longer take any other official visits.
"We just found out he committed to K-State this morning," Simon said.
Kansas State has strong ties to Hutchinson. Five players on its 2012 team came from the junior college located two hours away from Manhattan, including All-Big 12 defensive end Meshak Williams.
As a redshirt freshman at Hutchinson, Campbell finished with 88 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and an interception. He has three years to play three seasons in college.
