After visiting Texas, Barber is expected to take a final trip to Ole Miss on the weekend of Jan. 25. He’s been committed since July 29, when he chose the Rebels over Arizona State, Clemson and North Carolina.

Barber said he received his offer from Larry Porter, who recruited him while Arizona State. Porter has been plenty busy since getting hired as Texas’ new running backs coach on Jan. 2.

Texas expressed interest in another Ole Miss commit, Mark Dodson Jr., earlier this month immediately after Porter took over. Dodson was unable to schedule a visit and is set to enroll early at Ole Miss.

ESPN 150 back Alex Collins (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation) also received a visit from Porter on Friday and could take an official visit to Texas this month. The Longhorns are hunting for a new back after losing ESPN 300 recruit Kyle Hicks (Arlington, Texas/Martin) to TCU in December.
