Texas’ quest for a second tight end took position coach Bruce Chambers to Red Oak, Texas, to see Jeremiah Gaines on Thursday.

“I saw Coach Chambers right before practice really quick and then he left before practice was over,” Gaines said. “He just stayed for the first five minutes or so. I didn’t get to do much of anything.”

Gaines, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound tight end, is one of two known tight ends Texas is looking at to compliment Durham Smythe (Belton, Texas/Belton) in the 2013 class. Trent Gow (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) is the other.
