ESPN 150 defensive back Maurice Smith (Sugar Land, Texas/Dulles) is rapidly approaching the 20-offer plateau, and on Wednesday, the four-star cornerback picked up an offer from Florida, his seventh SEC offer.
When asked where the offer stood with him, Smith calmly gave a confident response.
“Pretty high,” he said.
Smith, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback, has offers from SEC schools Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Texas A&M, in addition to offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and a few other BCS programs.
Recruited by tight ends coach Derek Lewis, Smith is ranked the No. 10 cornerback in the country and ranked No. 12 among all players in Texas. With a solid Nike Football Training Camp showing in March, he earned a spot in the 2012 The Opening, a training and competition event featuring the nation’s top 150 players to run July 5-8 at the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
