Class of 2013 shooting guard Demarcus Croaker (Orlando, Fla./Jones) recently decommitted from Murray State and has reopened his recruiting.
"I decommitted because I felt I put all my eggs in one basket, took one visit and committed," said Croaker.
Croaker is back on the market and is now considering Texas and Mississippi with an upcoming weekend trip planned to Austin to spend some quality time with the Longhorns.
"I am taking an official visit to Texas this weekend,” Croaker said. “I am going in on Sunday (March 3-5) to check out their game on Monday against Baylor. I like the program, the coaches and how they develop players. Texas is the leader. I don't have a visit set yet with Mississippi."
Croaker is a 6-foot-4, 182-pound wing who is averaging about 27 points per game during his senior campaign. He is very athletic and excels in transition in addition to his ability to score on the interior off the dribble. Croaker also has a knack for getting to the rim and burying the open trey.
"I scored this year by creating space off the dribble for pull-ups, attacking the rim and hitting threes," Croaker said.
Croaker had a breakout performance this past July at the adidas Invitational Championship game where he attacked the rim, hit 3s and provided highlights on the break, netting 21 points playing on a loaded Florida Elite team that also featured Florida Gator signees Kasey Hill, Chris Walker and Kansas-bound center Joel Embiid.
If the Longhorns play their cards right this weekend, Rick Barnes and Co. will have an excellent shot of landing one of the most prolific scoring guards left on the board.
