Texas started the game last week by putting the ball in Daje Johnson’s hands. While the freshman might not get it the first play against Kansas, the touches will still be there for Johnson.

"He will have some stuff out of the backfield and some stuff at wideout," co-offensive coordinator Major Applewhite said. "Anytime you’ve got a guy that is that explosive, you’ve got to find a way to put the ball in his hands."

Texas has been unable to get the ball into Johnson’s hands out in space. Johnson has just four catches in the last three Big 12 games after opening Big 12 play with four against Oklahoma State.

"Sometimes in the passing game coverage dictates that the ball goes elsewhere," Applewhite said. "It is harder to get the ball to a certain guy in the passing game, so sometimes the best way is to just hand it to him."
