2012 Texas commits who could start early

December, 19, 2011
There are numerous players from Texas’ 2012 recruiting class that could see early playing time next season on offense.

But going off of what the Longhorns will return next season and the struggles at certain positions from this season, Connor Brewer (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) and Donald Hawkins (Northwest Mississippi Community College) seem to have the best chance at starting early.

It’s a tough position to put a freshman quarterback in, and realistically speaking, Texas would probably prefer to let him sit for a year to better understand the nuances of this offense, but Texas’ quarterback play was so unsettling this season, the coaching staff might not have a choice but to see what Brewer can do.
