Jerrod Heard (Denton, Texas/Guyer) picked up his first-ever offer last week, but another school remains the clear leader for one of the state’s best quarterbacks of the 2014 class.

Heard earned an offer from Nebraska and its offensive coordinator, Tim Beck, after the Huskers scouted him at a recent Guyer spring practice.

“It was a pretty neat thing when they offered me, and I was so excited. It was amazing. I talked to the offensive coordinator and he’s really cool,” Heard said. “They really like my film and how I ran the offense at Guyer, which is what they run at Nebraska.”
