Welcome to your daily Board Meeting. Each evening we’ll update you on the day’s hottest topics on the HornsNation forum.
1. Bergeron vs. Brown : Sean Adams talked today about the hype surrounding the RB position at Texas. It’s hard not to when the Longhorns will have two running backs who were arguably the best at their position their respect recruiting classes. And neither could be the starter.
Joe Bergeron definitely looked better this spring and might be more durable than Malcolm Brown. The hype machine follows Johnathan Gray who has yet to have collegiate carry.
Sean also brought up that the 2005 national title team balanced four running backs and that worked out pretty well.
Hype is all well and good, but Texas wants to rely on all of its backs in a variety of ways. So it will be hard to gauge whether production matches the hype.
But does it ever when talking about top recruits?
2. 2013 NFL Longhorns : Todd McShay has his first 2013 NFL mock draft and he has Texas defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat going third overall and Alex Okafor going No. 25 overall.
72Riley72 wanted to know which other Longhorns would get drafted. The easiest answer is certainly Kenny Vaccaro. The safety is poised to be an early second round pick and could easily push into the late first round.
It’s hard to see any others at this point getting to the upper rounds.
Who do you think will get drafted highest?
3. Texas in CWS : It’s about that time of year. The Texas baseball team has a few more series and the Big 12 tournament before the College World Series begins.
In the latest Bracketology, Texas is in and traveling to Houston for Regional play. The Longhorns have had some ups and downs this season and didn’t look good against Texas A&M last weekend.
The Aggies should host a regional, and deservedly so. The Longhorns, however, can push for its own Regional with a run in the Big 12 tournament. However, if Texas does not straighten out its pitching and defense problems, it could be a short CWS.
