Big 12 still third in conference power ranks

The Big 12 continues to hover in third behind the SEC and Pac-12 in ESPN Stats & Information's Conference Power Rankings.

The Big Ten, however, is gaining ground. Both conferences will be fighting for BCS bowl at-large bids.

The SEC is a lock for one of those bids. And, as it's explained here, Fresno State is in prime position to scoop another. Assuming the Orange Bowl took Clemson because of its ties to the ACC, that would leave one final spot -- likely going to either Stanford, a Big Ten school or a Big 12 school.
