Four-star LSU defensive end commit Torshiro Davis (Shreveport, La./Woodlawn) will no longer receive an in-home visit from Texas coaches on Wednesday.
Former Woodlawn coach DeCarlos Holmes confirmed to HornsNation that UT assistant Bo Davis called him on Monday to cancel the visit.
"He's going to LSU," Holmes said. "The coach said they're not going to waste any more time and they're going to let him honor his commitment. ... Basically they're not going to keep trying to beat a dead horse."
Holmes has yet to inform Davis of the change of plans, though. On Monday afternoon, Davis told HornsNation he was unaware of Texas' cancelation and that he remains interested in the Longhorns.
"I haven't talked to the Texas coaches yet," he said, "but I was supposed to call them today."
But it appears Texas is ready to move on. UT coaches continued to recruit Davis hard despite the verbal commitment and hosted him on an official visit in December. The No. 12 defensive end in ESPNU's 2012 rankings gave LSU his pledge last February and hasn't backed out despite taking several official visits elsewhere.
Longhorns coaches are still expected to visit No. 1 wide receiver recruit Dorial Green-Beckham at his home in Springfield, Mo. later this week, most likely on Thursday.
