The final ESPNU 150 rankings are out, and Longhorns fans might not be happy with two big moves.
Quarterback commit Connor Brewer (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) was ranked No. 3 among passers and No. 34 overall in the previous rankings. He’s now ESPNU’s No. 7 quarterback and ranked 130th overall.
Cayleb Jones (Austin, Texas/S.F. Austin) also dropped significantly. He’s now ranked 21st among receivers and 147th in the ESPNU 150. Prior to this update, he was No. 3 among receivers and 30th overall.
On the bright side, Johnathan Gray is now the nation’s No. 2 recruit, taking the place of defensive tackle Eddie Goldman. He’s joined in the top three by Texas targets Mario Edwards (No. 1 overall) and Dorial Green-Beckham.
Texas did have one big riser in the updated rankings: Curtis Riser (Desoto, Texas/Desoto) is now the No. 6 guard and jumped from 150th to 78th overal.
No other future Longhorns joined the ESPNU 150 or were dropped from it, and for the most part the other five UT commits didn’t move much. Here’s a rundown of where they stand now:
DT Malcom Brown (Brenham, Texas/Brenham): Moved up from 14th to 12th in ESPNU 150.
OLB Peter Jinkens (Dallas/Skyline): Moved down from 55th to 57th overall.
OT Kennedy Estelle (Pearland, Texas/Dawson): Now the nation’s No. 7 tackle and 49th overall. He was 9th and 58th, respectively.
CB Bryson Echols (Desoto, Texas/Desoto) : No change. Still the No. 6 cornerback and 79th overall.
DT Alex Norman (Dallas/Bishop Dunne): Now the No. 7 defensive tackle, dropped from 88th to 97th overall.
