Texas A&M Aggies: Kyrion Parker
One area that will be a point of focus for Texas A&M fans this spring and heading into the fall will be wide receiver.
Three of the top four receivers from 2012 [in terms of receiving yards] and four of the top six will not be back in 2013. Senior starters Ryan Swope (72 catches, 913 yards), Uzoma Nwachukwu (26 catches, 485 yards) and Kenric McNeal (19 catches, 265 yards) have all graduated and freshman Thomas Johnson (30 catches, 339 yards) withdrew from school in November and appears unlikely to return.
The good news for the Aggies is that their top receiver in terms of catches (82) and yardage (1,105) will be back: redshirt freshman and soon-to-be-sophomore Mike Evans.

HOUSTON -- Texas A&M has plenty of pass catchers in its 2013 class.
As one of the points of emphasis for the Aggies in their current recruiting haul, as many as eight different commitments could wind up as receivers for the Aggies (four receivers, three athletes and a tight end).
Manvel (Texas) High School receiver Kyrion Parker is not concerned about the numbers game. He said so this week at the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl, where he and high school teammate and fellow Texas A&M commitment Tavares Garner are participating for the American team along with four other Aggies commits.

DEER PARK, Texas -- For a large portion of his team's playoff win on Friday, Manvel (Texas) High School receiver Kyrion Parker didn't have the ball in his hands.
The Texas A&M commitment's opportunities were few and far between, but when he got his opportunities, he took advantage. And he even made sure to have an impact without the football.
With his team clinging to a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter against Sugar Land (Texas) Dulles, Parker made an impact blocking -- not catching -- to spring teammate Austin Bennett, an Oklahoma commitment, for a 39-yard run on a fly sweep.

Each week, GigEmNation reporter Sam Khan Jr. will bring you five things he learned from watching high school football action in the Midlands region that week, including observations of Texas A&M commitments and targets and other players that catch his attention. Here's this week's installment:
1. Manvel (Texas) High School cornerback Tavares Garner has good ball skills and instincts. The 2013 Texas A&M commitment made a big play on the Mavericks' first defensive series, returning an interception 22 yards for a touchdown. He also made some key tackles and deflected a pass later in the game, but Sugar Land (Texas) Dulles quarterback Robert Harris mostly refrained from throwing Garner's direction after the pick-six. He turned in a good performance in his team's 39-26 second-round playoff win on Friday.
2. Garner's teammate, 2013 receiver Kyrion Parker, didn't get a lot of throws his way but was still able to make an impact. The Texas A&M pledge made a couple of big plays late in the game. One was blocking -- he did a good job of blocking on a fly sweep for teammate Austin Bennett, an Oklahoma commit, as Bennett went around Parker and scurried for a 39-yard gain to set up the next play, a 20-yard touchdown pass to Parker in the corner of the end zone.

Texas A&M commit Kyrion Parker (Manvel, Texas/Manvel) doesn’t want anyone reading anything into his scheduled appearance at Kyle Field on Saturday. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound, three-star receiver will be in College Station, Texas, strictly for the football environment.
He doesn't want anyone to suspect a potential commitment switch with his appearance.
Parker confirmed on Friday that he is solid with his commitment to the Aggies, and his sole purpose of attending Saturday’s Texas A&M-LSU game is for entertainment purposes. He is looking forward to seeing two of the top teams in the SEC go at it.

A huge SEC West tilt is on tap Saturday at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. That's when No. 18 Texas A&M hosts No. 6 LSU.
In addition to the expected sellout crowd, a healthy number of recruits should be in attendance, including some of the Aggies' top targets in the 2013 and 2014 classes.
Here's a list of recruits who are expected to be at the game Saturday. As the week goes on and we confirm more visitors (or those who change plans), we'll update the list.

PASADENA, Texas -- Opposing quarterbacks haven't been looking the way of Manvel (Texas) High School cornerback Tavares Garner much this season. His most recent game, a 35-14 Manvel victory over Pasadena (Texas) Memorial, was a good example why.
Garner, a three-star Texas A&M commitment, only saw five passes thrown his way in the game. He made Memorial quarterback Jordan Wyatt pay with one of them with his second interception on the season. Three others resulted in incompletions and the final one was a pass-interference call that Garner wasn't too thrilled with.
The throws in Garner's direction seem to be few and far between. But he hasn't allowed that to hinder his focus.

MANVEL, Texas -- This season has started well for Manvel (Texas) High School receiver Kyrion Parker.
The Texas A&M commitment has had three productive games for the 2-1 Mavericks, averaging nearly 100 receiving yards per game, catching 15 passes for 294 yards and five touchdowns thus far. He was one of 20 commitments on hand to take in Texas A&M's season opener against Florida on Sept. 8.
And during his team's open week, Parker got some good news: he has been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
