One area that will be a point of focus for Texas A&M fans this spring and heading into the fall will be wide receiver.

Three of the top four receivers from 2012 [in terms of receiving yards] and four of the top six will not be back in 2013. Senior starters Ryan Swope (72 catches, 913 yards), Uzoma Nwachukwu (26 catches, 485 yards) and Kenric McNeal (19 catches, 265 yards) have all graduated and freshman Thomas Johnson (30 catches, 339 yards) withdrew from school in November and appears unlikely to return.

The good news for the Aggies is that their top receiver in terms of catches (82) and yardage (1,105) will be back: redshirt freshman and soon-to-be-sophomore Mike Evans.

He was just one season removed from knee surgery (a torn ACL cut his junior season short), but he finished the 2012 season with 1,031 all-purpose yards. Here's our Q&A with Tabuyo:

Sometimes it all feels like a dream for Honolulu Saint Louis School receiver Jeremy Tabuyo.

The visits to the campus of a major college football program. The visits from that program's coaches. The chance to play for a team that has a high-powered offense and was often the talk of the nation in 2012.

Forgive Tabuyo if he has to pinch himself.

Last year, Honolulu Saint Louis receiver Jeremy Tabuyo had his season cut short by a torn ACL. Now back at full strength, the Texas A&M commitment has returned to his productive ways on the field, catching 31 passes for 444 yards and five touchdowns in his team's first five games. The Crusaders (2-3) are coming off a tough loss to rival and perennial power Honolulu Punahou and will need to finish strong to get to the postseason.

GigEmNation caught up with Tabuyo recently to see how things are going:

Sam Khan Jr.: So how have things gone for you this season?

It has been a productive week on the recruiting trail for Texas A&M.

On Monday while jumping from one ESPN show to another, Kevin Sumlin got a call from all-state safety Shaan Washington (Alexandria, La./Alexandria) informing him that he was committing to the Aggies.

Tuesday, a quick recruitment of Honolulu/St. Louis School receiver Jeremy Tabuyo resulted in another pledge.

Call it, living up to his word.

Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin has been adamant in wanting to reach beyond the Texas borders for recruiting. Texas will always be the Aggies’ priority, but Sumlin wants his staff to be able to extend themselves nationally.

But, all the way to Hawaii?

WR Jeremy Tabuyo commits to A&M

Jeremy TabuyoTom HauckSt. Louis (Honolulu) wide receiver Jeremy Tabuyo also had scholarship offers from Kansas, Wyoming, Utah, Hawaii and was heavily courted by a number of Pac 12 programs before committing to A&M Tuesday evening.

During SEC media days, Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin spoke of the Aggies expanding their recruiting nationally.

On Tuesday, they stretched that footprint out about as far west as possible, reaching into Hawaii to score their latest commitment.

The Aggies got a commitment from Honolulu/St. Louis receiver Jeremy Tabuyo on Tuesday, their second commitment in as many days.

"I'm very excited," Tabuyo said. "It's a relief. Now I can just focus on my senior season and not worry about what school I want to go to."

Tabuyo, who is 5-foot-11, 182 pounds, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds. That speed will fit the Aggies' new Air Raid offense, which is designed to get the ball to receivers quickly to let them make plays. Tabuyo said the offense that coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury orchestrated at Houston had an impact on his decision.

"It caught my eye to see that they've had three receivers have 1,000-yard seasons (in one year)," said Tabuyo, who was recruited by receivers coach David Beaty. "It played a huge role."

Tabuyo had offers from Utah, Hawaii, Kansas and Wyoming. He was receiving interest from Oregon and Oregon State as well and had attended camps at each of those two campuses.

Even if those schools came calling with offers, Tabuyo said he's firm to the Aggies.

"It wouldn't effect my decision," Tabuyo said. "I made a commitment to the coaches and I'll stay true to the coaches."
