Kyle Allen is 'Mr. Consistency' at Elite 11
By Mitch Sherman
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Kyle Allen was so good this weekend at the Elite 11 finals that it almost worked against him.
“Everything he does is better than good,” said Trent Dilfer, Elite 11 head coach.

In a way, his individual skills fail to stand out because of the steadiness.
“He’s Mr. Consistency,” Dilfer said.
Allen, committed to Texas A&M out of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain, is OK with the evaluation. Dilfer named him to an unofficial top six on Sunday among the 18 quarterbacks in attendance after three days of practice. The quarterbacks join a larger group on Monday as The Opening gets started, headlined by 7-on-7 play that will be televised on ESPNU.
“This is not only improving me as a quarterback,” Allen said. “It’s improving every facet of my game and every facet of my life. They’re giving us techniques on how to calm your breathing down. They have a psychological coach here. It’s just the little things that give you the edge up on everyone else.”
Allen said he intends to help Texas A&M in its recruiting efforts with prospects at The Opening, in particular receiver K.D. Cannon (Mount Pleasant, Texas/Mount Pleasant), No. 58 in ESPN 300, and safety Jamal Adams (Lewisville, Texas/Hebron), the nation's No. 24-ranked prospect.
