Justin Manning confirms decision date

By Damon Sayles

ESPN 150 defensive tackle Justin Manning (Dallas/Kimball) has confirmed that he will announce where he will play college football on Dec. 7.

Manning, a 6-foot-2, 275-pound tackle, said the announcement most likely will take place at his high school between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. CT. He is expected to choose among Oklahoma, Texas A&M or TCU.

Manning said two weeks ago that he would make a decision after Kimball’s playoff season came to a conclusion. The Knights lost in the second round of the Texas Class 4A playoffs to Frisco (Texas) Centennial last Friday.

Oklahoma fans are confident Manning will pick the Sooners and follow in his brother’s footsteps. He is the younger brother of DeMarcus Granger, who played on the Oklahoma defensive line from 2006-09.

Texas A&M fans are confident that Manning will choose the Aggies because of the program’s immediate success in the SEC. TCU fans are confident that he’ll choose the Horned Frogs because of the success in the program’s first year in the Big 12.

Manning, No. 88 in the ESPN 150, has said on multiple occasions that the winning school will be decided by how comfortable he feels at a program and by how trusting the members of the coaching staff are. Manning, a four-star athlete, is ranked No. 8 among defensive tackles and No. 12 among players in Texas in the Class of 2013.
