3 Up, 3 Down: Texas A&M 63, Auburn 21

By Sam KHan Jr.

Texas A&M was dominant from start to finish, rolling to a 63-21 road win at Auburn. Let's look at the good and the bad of the win:

THREE UP

1. The running game: Saturday was the Aggies' best single-game rushing performance of the season. They established the run early and chewed up 352 rushing yards on the ground and all three running backs got in the mix with Trey Williams leading the way with 109 yards.

2. Johnny Manziel
:
It was a nice bounce-back day for the redshirt freshman quarterback after a three-turnover day against LSU a week ago. Manziel finished with 350 yards of total offense (260 passing, 90 rushing) and had a hand in five touchdowns: two passing, three rushing. He was 16 of 23 passing without any turnovers, and he even made some "Johnny Football" plays.

3. Ryan Swope: Swope had another good game and seems to be hitting his stride in this offense. He caught six passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns in the win, just a week after catching a season-high 10 passes.

THREE DOWN

1. No forced turnovers: Defensive coordinator Mark Snyder spoke earlier this week about taking the ball away if the offense wasn't going to give it away. The Aggies defense didn't have a turnover on Saturday, the second straight game in which the unit has come up empty-handed. The defense played well overall, but if we're nitpicking, that's an area worth noting.

2. Missed field goal: Redshirt freshman kicker Taylor Bertolet struggled against LSU and on Saturday against Auburn, he only had one attempt: a 48-yarder has the clock expired in the second quarter. He missed it, but he did make every PAT kick, which hasn't happened in every game this season. Bertolet was 9-of-9 in that department.

3. Finishing strong: Again, nitpicking here, but defensively, the Aggies yielded back-to-back touchdown drives in the third quarter where things like tackling weren't as good as they had been. With such a large lead it didn't make a difference, however.
